Task Description
The Service Engineering (SE) group at Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) / Institute of Applied Information Technology (InIT) in Switzerland is seeking applications for a full-time researcher position at its Winterthur facility. The successful candidate will work in the recently opened Service Prototyping Lab and will be responsible to advance the Cloud Native Applications initiative. The initiative goal is to support application and service developers in designing explicitly for the advantages of cloud hosting such as elasticity and resilience. In this position, the researcher will critically evaluate and improve the existing CNA designs and apply CNA principles to one or more open-source SaaS offerings. Desired Skills & Experience
Applicants must have a degree in Computer Science, or related disciplines, with excellent results in relevant courses. Willingness to engage and demonstrate applied research with fluctuating technology stacks is a prerequisite. We also seek applications from researchers and practicioners with a background in multi-disciplinary research relevant to software and service engineering – for example, applications of software models or system orchestration. Knowledge of English is essential for the application. A working knowledge of German is desired. We expect the candidate to be an internationally oriented, enthusiastic engineer/researcher who enjoys working in teams with a healthy mix of scientific and applied ambition.
